Jeanne G. Chiacchio (Brown), age 87, of Carney’s Point, passed away on the morning of
Saturday, January 26, 2026 surrounded by her devout and loving children, Sheryl, Stephen
and Sharlene. Jeanne was born on June 1, 1938 in Bayonne, New Jersey, one of thirteen
children, to Scottish immigrants James and Janet Brown.
The Brown family moved from Prattsburgh, New York to Penns Grove, New Jersey, where she
attended Penns Grove Regional High School and made the Varsity Cheerleading squad.
During her freshman year, she met the star running back of the Football Team, Ellio
Chi acchio, who became the love of her life and the rest is history. They married at St.
James Roman Catholic Church on November 19, 1955. Their unity lasted almost seventy
years with Ellio passing on April 5, 2025.
Jeanne held various jobs throughout her lifetime and was involved in many church and
community activities. However, the focus of her life was being a passionate MomMom,
Great MomMom and GiGi. She was an avid bingo player, chauffeured by Ellio to many bingo
halls, especially Mainland and Foxwoods, accompanied by her dear sister, Cathy and her
spouse Ed.
She enjoyed visiting relatives, never missing a Brown Family Reunion and rarely missing a
wedding, loved card games, slots at the casino, the Jersey Shore, Hallmark movies, the
Price is Right, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and displaying her family photos and greeting
cards. These all played a part in making Jeanne happy and content.
Our Mom’s beautiful, fulfilling life will forever be cherished by her children, Sheryl (Joseph)
Leoni, Stephen (Sharon) Chiacchio, and Sharlene (Robert) Caldwell, in addition to nine
devoted grandchildren; Joseph, Stephen (Nicole), Summer (Eric), Ralph (Melanie),
Stephanie (Anthony), Jeffrey (Destiny), Nicole (Thomas), Erica and Shawn (Bree), and
nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen (David) Bailey, her
brother, William (Bette) Brown, brother-in-law Frank (Veronica) Dennis, sister-in-law
Beverly (Patrick) Brown, sister-in-law Nancy (Mario) Chiacchio and several adoring nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by brothers and sisters: Peter (Lillian), Elizabeth (James),
Alexander (Della), James (Jenny), John (Joan), Joseph (Margaret), Arthur (Mona), Catherine
(Edward), Patrick (Beverly) and Veronica (Frank).
