Unsolicited Submissions Policy

The News of Salem County

PURPOSE:

This policy establishes guidelines for managing unsolicited content submissions to ensure consistent handling and appropriate communication with submitters.

POLICY:

  1. All unsolicited submissions must be documented in our submission tracking system upon receipt.
  2. Each submission will receive an automated acknowledgment response within 48 hours.
  3. Staff will review submissions within 10 business days to determine suitability for publication.
  4. Acceptance/rejection decisions will be communicated to submitters via email.

PROCEDURE:

1. All submissions must be directed to pat@the newsofsalemcounty.com

2. The editor will review submissions for:

  •    Relevance to our audience and community
  •    Quality of content
  •    Accuracy of information
  •    Originality
  •    Legal considerations

3. If a submission is accepted:

  •    A formal agreement will be sent to the submitter
  •    Terms of use and rights will be clearly defined
  •    Appropriate attribution will be determined

4. If a submission is rejected:

  •    A standardized, courteous rejection notification will be sent
  •    No specific feedback will be provided unless requested

5. All correspondence related to submissions will be retained for a minimum of one year.

The News of Salem County  assumes no responsibility for unsolicited materials. We do not guarantee the confidentiality of submissions prior to the execution of a formal agreement. Submitters retain ownership of their content until formal publication terms are agreed upon.
