Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 21st in the First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main St. in Woodstown. Friends are invited to visit from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow the service in the First Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, Woodstown. Ella Mae Hackett, age 102, a resident of Woodstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Friends Village in Woodstown after a long and fulfilling life.

She was born on October 27, 1923, and the daughter of Frank L. Schrier and Mabel B. Schrier. Ella Mae was one of eleven children; seven brothers and three sisters.

Ella Mae married C. Elbert Hackett on September 17, 1941, and they were blessed with five children: Dwight H., Patricia A., Clarence E. (Joanne), Susan M., and Jan C. Ella Mae is survived by Dwight, Clarence, and Susan, along with 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with her blended family. She is also survived by her sister, Mary, and her nieces and nephews.

Ella Mae was baptized in June of 1943 at the First Baptist Church in Woodstown. She was a very devoted Christian who served her Lord faithfully and joyfully.

A longtime member of Ogletown Baptist Church in Ogletown, DE, she taught Sunday School for 42 years with children ages 4 and 5. On Wednesdays she taught Mission friends for 36 years. She also participated in visitation of the homebound for 10 years.

She was employed by the USPS in Wilmington, DE for 24 years; she was presented two awards by the USPS for her excellent work.

In retirement, Ella Mae loved to travel, creating memories and enjoying memories with family and friends.

Her passion for Christ and His work never waned. She was an encourager to all who met her and heard her stories about life on the farm. In addition, she was a very positive person who lived faithfully as a dedicated Christian. She was determined to not give up or let things discourage her. She looked for the blessing and the silver lining in her daily activities, living for the added values of honor and truth.
