On February 24, 2026, Susanne T. Hill (nee Mangano), passed peacefully after a hard fought battle against the effects of a stroke. Sue, age 84, grew up on a farm in Swedesboro, the 3rd of 4 daughters born to Joseph and Grace Mangano. If you knew those 4 girls, you know that Joe and Grace are definitely in heaven.

After graduating from Swedesboro High School (yes, there really was one), Sue went on to a handful of secretarial jobs until she found her true-calling, caring for children. “Mrs. Hill” was known throughout the land as the baby-sitter of choice. For 34 years she changed diapers, read stories, changed diapers, made lunches, changed diapers and fell in love with all the children and their families. Her love and impact on them was reflected back in all the celebrations she was invited to long after they left her care.

Sue had 4 children of her own, Vic (Jules), Suzette, Cherie (Michael) and Amy (Michael), all of whom she thought she loved until she found out what came next. Grandkids and great-grandkids became her reason for living. Clint (Joanne), Nicole, Brian (Tori), Hannah, Syrus, Maddie, Mora, Rylee, Evie, Emma, Arlo, and the bonus kids Johnny and Nora, surely hit the Mom-Mom jackpot. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them, printing their photos for her walls and buying them gifts.

For many years Sue worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support her husband of 40 years, Charles, as he coached numerous sports teams and ran softball clinics. Charles passed in 2008, he was the love of her life and she missed him dearly. Sue loved working in her yard, playing slot machines, growing plants and talking to anyone walking by. Or driving by. Or a wrong number. She took pride in her festive porch decorations and in keeping house plants alive. Did we mention her love of talking? It is what she was best known for and we teased her about it endlessly, but the silence will surely be deafening.

Sue was predeceased by beloved family members: her husband Charles, her sister and brother-in-law Lucy and Louis Nocella, her sister Phyllis, and her parents. She is survived by her children, her sister Rose, some of the loveliest nephews and nieces, her very dear “adopted” sons Chuck McGlade and Kevin Donahue and her personal tech support team Adam and Laura Martin.
