Robert “Bob” O. Chambers, 82, of Pennsville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Born on January 29, 1944, in Salem, New Jersey, Bob was the beloved son of the late Lillian and Thomas Chambers. He was also predeceased by his brother, Thomas Chambers.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, JoAnn Chambers, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life.

A proud graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School, Class of 1962, Bob went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army, where he worked as a meteorologist before his discharge in 1965. His deep love of country and community remained a guiding force throughout his life.

Bob dedicated many years of his career as an electrician for DuPont Company at Chambers Works before retiring. Never one to slow down, he continued serving his community as the Fire Code and Zoning Officer for Pennsville Township. He also completed the Fire Inspector Course at the Gloucester County Fire Training Academy, further strengthening his commitment to public safety.

A lifelong and devoted member of the Pennsville Fire Department, Bob began his service in 1962 and remained active until 1991, when he became a lifetime member. Over the years, he held numerous leadership roles including Trustee, Secretary, Lieutenant, Deputy Chief, and Chief. His dedication extended beyond the local level, as he contributed significantly to the Salem County Fire Academy and Emergency Services, and served as an Executive Committeeman representing Salem County to the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association.

Bob was a man who truly cherished time with his family. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children: Robbie Chambers (Tracie), Keith Chambers (Cami), and Michael Chambers (Pearl). He was a proud and devoted PopPop to MaKenzie, Madison, and Jacob Chambers; Austin and Aidan Chambers; and Josh Penn and Kaylae Chambers. He is also survived by many nieces, dear friends, and extended family members who loved him deeply.

Outside of his work and service, Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved boating, camping, fishing, and crabbing, and he gave back to his community as a Little League coach, shaping the lives of many young athletes.

Bob will be remembered as a man of integrity, strength, and quiet dedication—a loving husband, father, PopPop, and friend whose life was defined by service to others, devotion to family, and pride in his country.
