Margaret Ellen “Bridgie” Blitzstein (nee Thoday), 98, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026.

Born in 1927 in Salem, New Jersey, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Matilda (Seagraves) Thoday. Known affectionately to family and friends as “Bridgie” she grew up in Salem and was recognized for her vibrant spirit from an early age. During her high school years, she proudly served as a majorette, a role that reflected the energy, confidence, and enthusiasm she carried throughout her life. She was also a member of the Salem Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and attending social events. In the 1980s, Margaret moved to Florida, where she began a new and fulfilling chapter of her life. It was there that she met Albert Blitzstein, “Murph.” Together they shared many happy years filled with companionship, laughter, and love. Albert preceded her in death. Margaret was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Florence, and her sons, Lee List and John List.

Bridgie truly enjoyed life and cherished every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She loved gathering with those she cared about, sharing stories, laughter, and special occasions. Her vivacious personality, and sense of humor made her a cherished presence wherever she went. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey List (Barbara), Kelly Deputy (Howard), Dawn Campbell (Michael) and Shannon Clemente (Floyd), as well as several great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, infectious energy and her stubbornness to family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her and in the many memories she leaves behind. Margaret’s life was a testament to the value of friendship, family, and finding joy in everyday moments. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
