Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, February 12, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with services to follow at the Ashcraft Funeral Home in Pennsville, NJ. Interment will be held at the Salem Country Veterans Cemetery in Pilesgrove Township, NJ, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanette’s memory to Ranch Hope, Alloway, NJ.

Jeanette A. Harbeson (nee Buckingham), a resident of Carneys Point, NJ, passed away on February 8, 2026, after a brief illness.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Elsie Buckingham, her husband, William Harbeson, and her son, Michael E. Harbeson. She is survived by her children: Debra L. Hanby and her husband Charles, Kathleen Smith, William A. Harbeson (Lisa), as well as her daughter-in-law, Eileen Harbeson. Jeanette’s legacy continues through her eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Bill), Kristin (Evan), Amber (Steve), Melissa (Joe), Michelle, Michael (Tricia), Michael (Chara), and Eric (Sherybeth). Jeanette is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Maxwell, Madison, Jaxson, Hailey, Gemma, Penny, Bryanna, Liam, and Olympia.

Jeanette led a life of community service. She was active in the New Hope Methodist Church, served as a member of the PG/CP School Board for 24 years, and participated in the Eastern Star (Penns Grove chapter). She was also on the board of Village Arms and Health Care Commons and was involved in the Red Hats and the Penns Grove Women’s Club.

Jeanette started each morning with a cup of hot tea and a crossword puzzle. She spent her Sundays cheering the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. When she wasn’t going to her various board and committee meetings, she could be found watching her favorite channel, Fox News. Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
