WOODSTOWN — A 36 year old Woodstown man was taken into custody Friday after firing a gun into the air during an argument and then barricading himself inside his residence, according to the Woodstown Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to Lee St in Woodstown Borough around 3:01 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2026 for a report of gunshots, per a press release from the department. Police learned that the suspect, identified as Gillian Torres II of Woodstown, had been involved in a verbal dispute with another male. During the altercation, Torres presented a firearm and fired one round into the air before barricading himself inside his home.
Responding officers set up a perimeter and secured the area. Negotiators from the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office made contact with Torres, who ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Torres was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. He was lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.
