Surrounded by her family, Maria H. Brown, 77, of Carneys Point, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026.

Maria was born in Woodbury to Raymond and Helen Brown Gandy. She attended St. James Grammar School and Penns Grove High School. Maria was a dedicated homemaker and talented seamstress who had worked for Andaves Sewing Factory in Penns Grove.

She had a vibrant spirit and a love for simple pleasures. Maria enjoyed playing bingo, watching her favorite soap operas, and spending time in Wildwood playing video poker with the grandkids. A passionate sports fan, she cheered for all Philadelphia teams, especially the Eagles, often enjoying her games with a handful of M&M’s. Maria was also known for sharing her fun and competitive spirit with family and friends.

Maria treasured her family above all else, with a special love for her grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Carol Harrison and her husband John, Susan Knipe and her husband Robert, and William R. Brown Jr. and his wife Lori. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Savannah Knipe, Bobby Knipe, John Harrison, and Carmella Brown, as well as her siblings Jack, Dennis, and Joe Gandy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 49 years, William Brown, and siblings Martin, Raymond, and Paul Gandy.
