L. Raymond Humphreys Jr.

January 30, 1943 - October 15, 2026

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 21st at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.

L. Raymond Humphreys, Jr. age 83 of Pennsville, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 15, 2026. He was born in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the late Louis R. Humphreys, Sr. and Louise M. Black Humphreys. Raymond was a lifelong Pennsville resident.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Emily L. Stokely Humphreys who he married in 1962 who passed in 2002. Survived by his daughter, Bethanne Humphreys of Pennsville, grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Humphreys, Deborah L. Humphreys and David W. Humphreys and his partner Linda Webb, great granddaughter, Maxine A. Humphreys all of Egg Harbor City, NJ. Predeceased by his son, William R. Humphreys in 1998.

Ray was employed as a foreman at the DuPont Chambers works where he retired following approximately 30 years’ service. Following his retirement, he worked on his farm in Pennsville at the Meadowview Greenhouse, best known for his tomatoes. He volunteered at the Salem County Sportsman’s Club since the 1980’s, as a member of the Tuesday Crew. Ray loved his kids, grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved bowling, fishing, hunting and oyster dinners at the Elmer Grange, gardening and vacationing with family. Ray went out of his way to help family and friends without any prompting.
