SALEM — Salem is headed back to a sectional final for the first time since 2022 after flattening Woodstown 36-0 Saturday in the Central Jersey Group 1 semifinals.

Cashmir Parsley rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns and Tony Merendino led a Salem Blue Storm defense that held his former team to 20 yards of net offense and 0 points.

There were pancakes all around — on the field and on the plate in the post-game celebration. Merendino had at least three sacks and had a helping of pancakes he’d been watching his linemen teammates enjoy all season.

The Rams beat Woodstown 40-7 earlier this season and were just as dominant as they were Saturday. They held the Wolverines to minus-10 yards net rushing over the final three quarters. The Wolverines’ biggest plays were a couple 63- and 48-yard wind-aided efforts by their punter

Sincère Gillis provided the Rams’ initial spark with a 51-yard punt return. Parsley scored on runs of 5, 6 and 56 yards en route to his sixth straight 100-yard game and ninth of the season. Adrian Alleyne ran for a touchdown late in the second quarter to give the Rams a 28-0 halftime lead.

The Rams, who’ve won 7 in a row after a 1-3 start, visit Paulsboro for the section title Saturday. The game is a rematch of an 8-6 Paulsboro win in which Salem wasn’t the team or had the personnel it has now.
