There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Steakouts Homeplate Pittsgrove, 85 Harding Highway, Pittsgrove, NJ, 08318.

George Benckert, 48, of Pittsgrove, passed away on April 20, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of George T. and Ruth Anne Benckert.

George worked as a veterinary technician at the Animal Hospital of Millville, where he was known for his steady hands, compassion, and genuine care for every animal that came through the doors. His work reflected his lifelong connection to animals.

Outside of work, George found his greatest peace in nature. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time on his farm, where he felt most at home.

George is survived by his wife Heather; his mother Ruth Anne; his siblings Daniel Palermo (Alicia) and Ruthanne Leopanto; his niece Bianca Palermo; his nephew Daniel Palermo; his great-nephew Giovanni, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

George was predeceased by his father George T. Benckert.
