With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we remember Gail Lemke, who went home to be with her Lord on February 21, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 1934, to William and Gladys Kenworthy during a winter blizzard, Gail’s name was inspired by the storm that marked her arrival — a fitting beginning for a woman whose life would be marked by strength, warmth, and enduring faith.
As a teenager, Gail moved to Bridgeport and later to Pedricktown, New Jersey, where she met the love of her life, Mervin Lemke. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, raising their family in Pedricktown, the community she would faithfully call home for the rest of her days.
For many years, Gail worked at Matson’s Greenhouse, where her love for flowers blossomed, a love beautifully reflected in the vibrant, carefully tended flowerbeds she nurtured at home. She found joy in simple, beautiful things: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, reading, and puzzles. She often shared treasured stories of embroidering as a child during the war, listening to the radio.
Gail was a woman of service and steadfast faith. A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Pedricktown, she faithfully served on the kitchen crew and lived out her faith in both word and action. She was also a dedicated member of the Pedricktown Ambulance and served for many years on the local voting poll committee.
She enjoyed traveling the world, visiting Europe and the Panama Canal, and delighted in cruising with her dear friends — affectionately known as “The Cane Brigade.”
Gail’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother affectionately known as “Gigi.” She was deeply rooted in her faith, and to the very end, she remained steadfast, trusting in the promises of her Savior.
Gail is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Mervin, and her son, Dan.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Bruce and his wife Pam, Brian, and Robin and her husband Keith. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Stephen, Rachelle, Rachel, Amanda and her husband Scott, Billy, and Zack, and her two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Elijah.
Her life is a testimony of faith, family, service, and quiet strength.
