Barbara Ann Trethan, 83, of Elmer, passed away on April 14, 2026

Born in Camden, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Loibl) Metzger.

After graduating from Williamstown High School, Barbara attended junior college in Philadelphia, the beginning of a forty-year career as a medical secretary. Throughout her life, Barbara’s children and grandchildren were her greatest passion and priority, but she also had an enduring fondness for plants and pets, often claiming she had more plants than space. Over the years, she cared for dogs Buddy, Nicky, Clyde, and Toby; birds Pretty Girl, Blueberry, and Lemon; and cats Annie, Oakie, Star, and Holly.

Barbara loved to travel. Trips with her husband Joe to Aruba, Colorado, and Las Vegas provided many of her best memories. In later years, Barbara’s life was filled with simple pleasures, including cross-stitch, painting, ceramics, and shopping with her sisters-in-law. An avid fan of television crime dramas, Barbara’s daughters remember that it was rare when she couldn’t identify the culprit in the show’s first half hour.

Barbara attended the First Baptist Church of Elmer, where she was a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School class.

Barbara will be missed by her daughters, Kimberly McClintock (David Wroblewski), Dawn Jenkins (David Jenkins), and Tania Trethan; as well as her four grandchildren, Zoe and Caleb Jenkins, and Ruan and Anthony (AJ) Witter, Jr. She is survived by her first husband, Bruce McClintock, father of Kimberly and Dawn. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Trethan, Jr.
