Penns Grove man facing weapons and aggravated assault charges, a burglary and drug-disposition case, two DWI arrests, and five people taken into custody on outstanding warrants
CARNEYS POINT TWP. — Carneys Point Police reported 10 cases in the department’s monthly arrest summary for Sept. 14–28, 2026. The most serious case involves a Penns Grove man taken into custody on aggravated assault and multiple weapons charges, including unlawful possession of a handgun. Also during the period, an Avenel man was arrested on burglary and drug-disposition charges, two men were arrested on separate DWI-related cases, and five people were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
All those named below are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges reflect the initial filing and may be amended, reduced or dismissed as cases proceed through the courts. Note: the department’s own report labels every case below an “arrest,” but only the cases where someone was actually taken into custody are described that way here; the obstruction and standalone motor-vehicle/DWI cases that were resolved with a summons are described as such.

Thomas L. Minter, 37, of Penns Grove — Issued a summons at 12:34 a.m. Sept. 14 on a charge of obstructing the administration of law or government function.
Victor Manuel Villegas Jr., 37, of Camden — Arrested at 1:11 p.m. Sept. 15 on an outstanding warrant.
Leonard William Cooke III, 32, of Penns Grove — Arrested at 12:11 p.m. Sept. 17 and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, certain persons not to have weapons, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a handgun.
Andrew R. Lee, 31, of Pennsville — Arrested at 10 p.m. Sept. 19 on two outstanding warrants.
Charles W. Dietrich II, 56, of Carneys Point — Issued a summons at 5:01 p.m. Sept. 20 and charged with careless driving, driving while under the influence, failing to exhibit his insurance and registration documents, improper use of the left lane, and refusal to submit to a breath test.
Derick J. Sellars, 33, of Penns Grove — Arrested at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 on an outstanding warrant.
Danielle M. Cascaden, 35, of Carneys Point — Arrested at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 22 on an outstanding warrant.
Maurice W. Brooks, 39, of Carneys Point — Arrested at 10:32 p.m. Sept. 23 on an outstanding warrant.
Brian F. Figueroa, 49, of Penns Grove — Issued a summons at 1:38 a.m. Sept. 27 on a charge of driving while under the influence.
Richard Paola Jr., 34, of Avenel — Arrested at 11:04 a.m. Sept. 28 and charged with burglary and failure to make lawful disposition of controlled dangerous substances.
