On Friday, April 24, 2026, Kathleen (nee Mahoney) Starcevich (62), of Pennsville, NJ, passed away unexpectedly and joined the rest of the angels in heaven. Born in Wilmington, DE, Kathleen was the daughter of the late James E. Mahoney and Eileen (McMackin) Mahoney. Kathleen was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years—John W. Starcevich—who passed in 2024 and her sister-in-law, Denise M. Starcevich, who passed early in life.

Raised in Pennsville, NJ, Kathleen was a 1981 graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and furthered her education at Salem Community College, where she achieved an Associate's Degree. Most recently, Kathleen was a partner in the family business, Mahoney Realty, which was a role she loved to share with her siblings. She was the glue that held the family business together.

Kathleen's greatest joys in life were family, especially in raising her children and caring for family members. As a caregiver, Kathleen brought peace to her loved ones, ensuring that no one ever felt alone. As a mother, Kathleen gave endlessly of herself, always putting her children first, offering comfort in difficult times and celebrating even the smallest victories with genuine joy.

In life, Kathleen was passionate about decorating for the holidays, celebrating birthdays, and remembering the legacies of those who passed before us… and she sure did love her ice cream.

Whether through a simple conversation, a warm smile, or an act of generosity, Kathleen's quiet strength carried those around her through life. Though she is no longer with us, Kathleen's love remains—guiding, comforting, and enduring always.

She experienced the joy of being a grandmother with the addition of John Beau Starcevich in May 2024.

Kathleen is survived by her three sons; John J. Starcevich (Amanda), Jeffrey W. Starcevich (Kimberley Johnson), and Joseph E. Starcevich; as well as her siblings; Theresa Dempsey (David), Carol Smith (Richard), and Thomas Mahoney (Tamara); and sister-in-law, Nancy (Starcevich) Gunning (Donald).

Walter Wayne Neher, age 60, of Pittsgrove, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. He was born on September 11, 1965 in Elmer, NJ. He is survived by his wife, Deborah "Debbie" (McConomy); daughter, Megan (Brian); sons, Wayne and Ryan; brothers George and Jimmy; many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry, Sr. and Dora (Crumb); his brother, John; and his sisters, Maryann, Louise, and Donna. He was a 1983 graduate of Arthur P. Schalick High School. In his youth, he was an avid baseball and football player.

After high school, Wayne went into the autobody trade, but found his true calling in plumbing. On December 22, 1988, he met the love of his life, Debbie. They were married in 1991 and together they raised three children and the numerous animals they came across, never turning away a stray. One of those strays, a dog he named Doug, became his little buddy.

The word stranger was not in Wayne's vocabulary; a stranger was just a friend he hadn't met yet. No matter where he went, he found someone to share a conversation with. Wayne will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was always willing to help any person or animal in need.

James (Jimmy) David Graham, Jr., 34, of Woodstown, passed away tragically on April 17, 2026. Born in Washington Township, he was the beloved son of James Sr. and Linda (Patalonis) Graham. Jimmy was a graduate of Woodstown High School and went on to attend Salem Community College. He worked for many years as a Parts Manager for Liberty Kenworth in Swedesboro, where he was known for his strong work ethic and sense of humor.

Born with an inner passion for adventure, Jimmy grew up shooting, collecting different guns, and traveling throughout the States. He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found hiking, camping, and fishing. He spent his summer days out in the bay boating and fishing. Most of all, he had a love for riding his KTM SuperDuke. Jimmy also had a unique and frolicking spirit as well—rescuing old pianos destined to be discarded and giving them one last memorable send-off in a bonfire. From childhood, Jimmy developed numerous deep friendships (all of whom have partaken in the honorable piano fires). He had a gift for conversation, meeting people of all backgrounds and learning their stories. Enjoying the company of others, he was often found at your local bar, judging mozzarella sticks, meeting new people, playing trivia and pool.

As the first grandchild on the Graham side, Jimmy naturally took on the role of leader among his cousins, as Caitlin can vouch, earning the regal title as the head of the “Super Cool Cousin Crew”. He also coined himself the “Fun Uncle” and adored riling up his nephews. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Abby Drisdom, and her husband, Khalid; his cherished nephews, Jacob and Reese; and many loving aunts and uncles, including Donna Graham, Robert Graham Jr., Jack Graham, Michael Graham (Nancy), Kathy Graham, Scott Graham (Elaine), Maureen McDevitt (Stephen), Debbie Patalonis, Lenny Patalonis, Anne Sintic-Cohill (Bill), and Marie Dugre. Cousins; Caitlin, Ashley, Michael, Kelsey, Bobby, Stephen, Scotty, Megan, Sean, Lauren, Shannon, Shane, Ryan and Lindsey. Along with cousins from his mother’s side; Kerri, Lindsay, Melissa, Derrick and Kayla. Predeceased by cousins Jason and Sarah.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Rose Graham, and Leonard and Mary Patalonis. Most of all, Jimmy was a believer in Jesus Christ, and he will also be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his kindness, and his ability to make anyone feel like a friend.

Barbara Ann Trethan, 83, of Elmer, passed away on April 14, 2026

Born in Camden, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Loibl) Metzger.

After graduating from Williamstown High School, Barbara attended junior college in Philadelphia, the beginning of a forty-year career as a medical secretary. Throughout her life, Barbara's children and grandchildren were her greatest passion and priority, but she also had an enduring fondness for plants and pets, often claiming she had more plants than space. Over the years, she cared for dogs Buddy, Nicky, Clyde, and Toby; birds Pretty Girl, Blueberry, and Lemon; and cats Annie, Oakie, Star, and Holly.

Barbara loved to travel. Trips with her husband Joe to Aruba, Colorado, and Las Vegas provided many of her best memories. In later years, Barbara's life was filled with simple pleasures, including cross-stitch, painting, ceramics, and shopping with her sisters-in-law. An avid fan of television crime dramas, Barbara's daughters remember that it was rare when she couldn’t identify the culprit in the show's first half hour.

Barbara attended the First Baptist Church of Elmer, where she was a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School class.

Barbara will be missed by her daughters, Kimberly McClintock (David Wroblewski), Dawn Jenkins (David Jenkins), and Tania Trethan; as well as her four grandchildren, Zoe and Caleb Jenkins, and Ruan and Anthony (AJ) Witter, Jr. She is survived by her first husband, Bruce McClintock, father of Kimberly and Dawn. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Trethan, Jr.

William J. Powers Sr. of Salem, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, at the age of 66. Born in Salem, NJ, he was the son of late Jack C. and Evelyn Powers. William worked in the maintenance department at the Mantua Township School District. He was the Vice President of South Jersey RC Airplane Club. Bill enjoyed sitting at RC field flying his planes and chatting with his friends. He also enjoyed riding on his Harley, whether it was memorial rides or trips to Skyline Drive, being on the water and boating and most recently farming on his XBox.

Bill had two faithful followers in his last years, his golden retriever, Cooper and his Britney Spaniel, Sammy Girl. They were his constant companions, especially his Sammy Girl who loved to accompany him to the RC field. Bill also had a pesky, talkative parrot named Buttons.

Anyone who knew Bill knew him for his larger-than-life presence. While he could be difficult, his presence shaped the lives of his family in ways that cannot be overlooked. He was always the first person to tell you that you're doing something wrong but the first person to call to fix everything and anything. His knowledge of life and how to learn things the hard way made him someone everyone would turn to for advice or a story. Bill always told the best stories, especially while playing UNO with his family, which he would tell you he hated but deep down he loved when his family was together. His life serves as a reminder of the complexities of family, the impact we have on one another, and the enduring nature of connection, even when it is imperfect.

William is survived by his wife, Sherry Powers; two sons, William. J Powers Jr. and Jack E. Powers; and six grandchildren, who carry forward not only memories of him, but also lessons—both spoken and unspoken—that will remain with them. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Evelyn Powers, and his sister, June.

Elaine Marie Pfeffer (née Strang), age 88, of Elmer, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the Center of Rehabilitation and Nursing of Washington Township.

Born on September 28, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey, Elaine Marie Strang was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Kemmerle Strang and Lydia Sophia Horton.

Elaine attended Wesley College, where she earned her associate's degree. It was there that she met the love of her life, George C. Pfeffer, Jr. The couple was united in marriage on October 12, 1957, at Epworth Methodist Church in Palmyra, New Jersey, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, faith, and shared purpose.

On April 25, 1966, Elaine and George welcomed their beloved daughter, Michele D. Pfeffer, into their lives through adoption. Becoming a mother was one of Elaine's greatest joys, and from that moment forward, she embraced motherhood with love and devotion. Elaine and Michele shared a deep and enduring bond, growing to become not only mother and daughter, but the very best of friends throughout their lives.

Elaine was an avid supporter of the Schalick High School Marching Band and the Elmer Swim Team. She faithfully attended all her daughter Michele's games and meets, never missing an opportunity to cheer her on. A trumpet player herself during her high school years, Elaine encouraged Michele to pursue music as well. Even during the busiest years running the bakery, she always made time to be present at Michele's activities, offering unwavering support and pride.

Together, Elaine and George proudly owned and operated Pfeffer's Bakery in Elmer, New Jersey. They dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to their business and community, working tirelessly to create delicious baked goods that brought joy to generations of customers. Elaine spent countless hours icing cupcakes, assembling cookie trays, and preparing a wide variety of treats. As the welcoming face of the bakery, she managed the storefront with warmth and kindness, greeting each customer with a smile and offering favorites such as spiced cupcakes, cream-filled donuts, lemon meringue pies, cinnamon buns and an array of homemade cookies.

During the slower moments at the bakery, Elaine would often play the piano. Many customers would pause their visits just to listen, enjoying the warmth and comfort of her music while they waited for their treats.

Elaine had a deep love for the Jersey Shore and cherished many family vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey, where she found peace and happiness by the ocean. She was an active member of Elmer United Methodist Church, where she especially loved singing the hymns, sharing her beautiful voice with the congregation. She was also a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international, non-academic women's friendship network, where she formed lasting friendships and was active within the Elmer, New Jersey community.

A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Elaine especially loved cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles. She rarely missed a game and enthusiastically supported her teams through every season. She also enjoyed participating in weekly football pools and filling out basketball brackets during March Madness.

Elaine found joy in life's simple pleasures-taking walks outdoors, relaxing in her rocking chair while watching the world go by, and spending meaningful time with her daughters, Michele and Shannon. Together, they enjoyed watching their favorite game shows and television programs, creating cherished memories.

Elaine is survived by her loving daughter, Michele D. Pfeffer and her wife, Shannon Evans; her nieces, Cynthia Evoy and Ingrid Knox and her husband, Warren Knox; and her nephew, Karl Evoy.

In addition to her husband, George C. Pfeffer, Jr, Elaine was predeceased by her beloved sister, Hildegarde Evoy, and her parents, Harry Kemmerle Strang and Lydia Sophia Horton.

Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, her strong work ethic, her love of family, and the joy she brought to her community through both her kindness, her music, and her generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and sweet memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
