Donna M (Powers) Whipkey

August 7, 1959 - September 3, 2026

As we bid farewell to a life so beautifully lived, we invite all who knew Donna to join us in celebrating her remarkable journey. A viewing will be held at Ashcraft Funeral Home in Pennsville on September 9 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to share their condolences, memories, and celebrate the life of a truly special woman. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Penns Grove.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna M. Whipkey (née Powers), age 67, of Pennsville. She departed this life peacefully at her home, surrounded by the loving presence of her husband and her son, Adam, who both devotedly cared for her and were by her side throughout her final days. Donna leaves behind a life rich in love, faith, service, and unwavering commitment to others. May she now rest peacefully in the loving arms of God.

Born to the late Raymond and Jean Powers, Donna’s roots were firmly planted in Penns Grove, where she spent her formative years. Her early education began at St. James Grammar School, culminating in her graduation from St. James High School with the class of 1977. Throughout her life, Donna cherished the enduring bonds of friendship. She remained especially close to her three beloved childhood friends, Darlene Davis, Sue Oliver, and Ann Blake—a testament to the deep and special connection they shared since their school days and the truly special place they held in her heart.

Donna dedicated many years of her professional life to public service, retiring in 2021 from the Bellmawr Post Office. Her colleagues knew her for her exceptional work ethic and genuine kindness. Even after retirement, her commitment to connection continued to shine through, as she frequently stopped by to greet her former co-workers, always leaving behind a warm impression and her bright, familiar smile.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Donna’s life was defined by an extraordinary commitment to others and a generous spirit. For four decades, she was an integral and active member of the Park Bible Baptist Church family. When a need arose, Donna was consistently among the first to step forward, embodying a selfless devotion that inspired all who knew her. Her compassionate heart extended to the wider community through her dedicated volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. She found immense joy in delivering not only meals, but also moments of warmth and a comforting smile to each person she served, brightening countless lives through her gentle presence.

Donna’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Donzel, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to her son, Adam Whipkey. Her legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Whipkey and her husband, Gannon, and Adam Whipkey Jr., who brought immense light into her life. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sheri Dobson, and her husband, Don, along with her niece, Taylor Dobson; and her two brothers, Bill Powers and Michael Powers. Her family circle also included two special cousins, Kathy Jackson and Debbie Morrison, who shared such a profound bond with Donna that they truly considered her a younger sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Salem County Meals on Wheels, an organization close to Donna’s heart, or to a charity of one’s choice, continuing her spirit of giving and her legacy of kindness.
