William T Brokenbaugh Sr.

Viewing will be held Friday, September 4 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church of Pedricktown, 26 Pennsville-Pedricktown Road, Pedricktown, NJ, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
William “Bill” Brokenbaugh Sr., age 92, of Carneys Point, New Jersey, peacefully departed this life on August 28, 2026. Born to the late Phillip and Susie Brokenbaugh. He graduated from Penns Grove High School, class of 1952 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. One of his fondest assignments was serving as a mailman aboard the USS Intrepid. He later continued his military service in the United States Navy Reserve until his retirement.
Bill worked for the United States Postal Service in North Jersey before returning home to Carneys Point. He began a long career with DuPont as a pipefitter and later became a contract administrator, retiring in 1989. Never one to remain idle, Bill later served his community as a school bus driver for the local school and later provided transportation for Salem County seniors.
Bill was a champion powerlifter who competed with the Iron Knights of the Salem County YMCA, earning numerous championships earning a place in the Salem County Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. He also had a lifelong love for music. A gifted guitarist and singer, he sang on the radio with his sisters and later performed with the Diversified Taylor Voices, the Henry Twins and Stars of Joy, and the Second Baptist Church Men’s Choir. A faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Bill attended worship regularly. Family, friends, and neighbors will fondly remember seeing him sitting in front of his garage, guitar in hand, playing and singing. Bill enjoyed traveling and working around his home. He took special pride in having built his own home and garage.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; his brothers, Andrew and Richard; and his sisters, Leah, Mildred, Louella, Susan, and Frances. He leaves in remembrance his children, William “Buttons” Brokenbaugh Jr.; Jami Brokenbaugh-Allen (William); Phillip Brokenbaugh; and John Brokenbaugh (Stephanie); his sister, Helen Green; his grandchildren, Branden Brokenbaugh and Michael Brokenbaugh; brother-in-law John Richardson, sister-in-law Rushia Richardson Brown, sister-in-law Deborah Richardson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill will be deeply missed.
