Barbara Ellen Blizzard Chomo

December 19, 1942 - August 27, 2026

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on September 3, 2026, at Lawnside Cemetery, 1017 Route 40, Pilesgrove, NJ 08098.

Barbara Ellen Chomo, age 83, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 27, 2026. She was born on December 19, 1942, in Worton, Maryland, to Charles Irvin Blizzard and Mary Ellen Blizzard.

Barbara met the love of her life, Steve, while getting her hair done in a beauty shop above Green’s Auto, and they were married on April 24, 1970. They raised their family in Carneys Point, NJ, until moving to Dover, Delaware, in 2000.

Barbara was recently preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve, on June 15, 2026. The close timing of their deaths is a testament to their love and devotion to one another. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.

Barbara is survived by her children: Delbert Holmes (Stefanie), Ronald Holmes, Steve Chomo III (Denee), and Cynthia Martin (Nelson). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara dedicated her life to her children and family. She loved children and even spent several years working at the Clement School for Exceptional Children after her own children were grown. She loved to cook, bake, and crochet, and passed her love and skill for those hobbies to her children and nieces.

In addition to her deep love and pride for her family, Barbara will be remembered for her fiery personality. She was fiercely protective of those she loved and would do anything for you, asking for nothing in return. She will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by all who loved her.
