PENNSVILLE — Last week on September 3, 2026 Pennsville Township officials introduced two ordinances this week that together would clear the way for licensed cannabis retail businesses in town.

Ordinance A-16-2026 would create a Cannabis Overlay Zone (COZ) — split into two separate districts — where Class 5 cannabis retail sales would be permitted. A draft zoning map has been posted along with the ordinance below. Its public hearing and final vote are set for 6:30pm on October 15, 2026. All persons interested will be given the opportunity to be heard concerning such ordinance. Copies of this Ordinance are available below and at the Township Clerk’s Office, 90 N. Broadway, Pennsville, NJ.

The planning board will review the proposed zoning board map and corresponding ordinance A-16-2026 and provide a recommendation within 30-35 days after it was first read and introduced (September 3, 2026).

Ordinance A-17-2026 would repeal and rewrite Chapter 25 of the township code to establish licensing, registration, regulation, and municipal taxation rules for cannabis establishments. That ordinance’s hearing and vote are set for September 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Both were introduced and passed first reading at the Township Committee’s September 3 meeting. Both meetings will be held at the Pennsville Municipal Building, 90 North Broadway, and residents will have the chance to speak before either ordinance is finally adopted.

Copies of both ordinances, plus the draft zoning map, are available at the Township Clerk’s Office or on the township’s website.
