David B Hale

October 2, 1937 - September 21, 2026

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Hackett Pavilion at Pittsgrove Baptist Church, 368 Daretown Rd., Daretown, NJ. Visitation will start at 10am and the celebration of life will begin at 11am, with lunch to follow. Burial at Pittsgrove Baptist Church Cemetery, Daretown, NJ.

David Bernard Hale, 88, of Woodstown, NJ passed away on September 21, 2026. Born on October 2, 1937, in Swedesboro to the late Bernard Hitchings Hale and Margaret (Paulding) Hale, he was raised in Pole Tavern, NJ. He was a 1956 graduate of Woodstown High School and had a long career selling painting supplies to hardware stores in the tri-state area for Gardner Brothers of Daretown, NJ.

Dave was an active member of the Pittsgrove Baptist Church in Daretown, where he served on the Board of Trustees for over 35 years. He operated the sound board for many years, faithfully serving on Sunday mornings and other events. Along with his wife, Joan, he created a variety of crafts for each summer’s Vacation Bible School.

Dave was an Eagle scout in the Daretown Boy Scout Troop 60, where he later served as the scoutmaster from 1970 – 1978 and mentored many young boys into young men through the scouting program. He briefly resurrected the Explorer Post 60 following his years in the Troop.

Dave enjoyed many hobbies, including golf, woodworking, and skiing.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joan (Hackett) Hale; his children Tom (Gina) Hale of Carlisle, PA, Darlyn (Ron) Salvatore of Elmer, NJ, Dara (Andy) Hartell of Virginia Beach, VA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Margaret Hale, his sisters June Elwell and Janet Hale.
