Local Artist Highlight – No Alibis

No Alibis is a classic rock and blues cover band fronted by the rich and smooth voice of Dr. Sue Ventrella. You may recognize Susan Ventrella, DO ND, from her days seeing patients at Elmer Family Practice. Now you can find her rocking out at several local venues, including The Engine House, Dirty Jersey Tavern, and DiPaolo’s Restaurant and Bar. They played at DiPaolo’s in Penns Grove this past Friday, and it was a blast.

Dr. Sue has a smooth voice that has a charming Chrissie Hynde quality. They opened with Riders on the Storm by the Doors, and I was absolutely smitten! I was really impressed with Dr. Sueโ€™s energy, charisma and bedside manners. You could tell that she really enjoys performing, and she mingled with the crowd between sets like we were old friends.

The whole band was tight, with Jay Coyle on drums, Dr. Barry Berman (a practicing pediatrician in Salem) on keys, Dave Olejnik on Bass, and their newest member Al Pavone on lead guitar. Dr. Sue shares vocal duties with several of the band members, which makes for great variety. They nailed all the hits: Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb, Van Morrison’s Wild Night, JJ Cale’s Call Me The Breeze. No Alibis are true professionals. They bring the party with great classics that you can dance to.

No Alibis is scheduled to play at The Engine House on Friday, July 24, and again at DiPaoloโ€™s Restaurant and Bar on Saturday, August 1. If you canโ€™t wait that long to dance to some hot blues and cool tunes, then check out their website for a full schedule, here: No Alibis Upcoming Gigs. You can see them next Saturday, May 9, at Filomena’s Cucina Rustica in West Berlin.
