CARNEYS POINT – Damian Ware never ceases to be amazed by the things his Penns Grove football team has been able to get done in this turnaround season. And he says the Red Devils have only scratched the surface of how good they can become.
Jaivon Thomas and Terrell Thomas both rushed for over 100 yards and two long touchdowns, the defense held its second straight opponent to a touchdown or less and the Red Devils moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2019 with a 38-0 rout of Pitman Friday night.
They hadn’t won three games in a season since 2023. They were winless last season.

“It kind of is (surprising) because it’s happening so fast,” Ware said. “And especially coming in not knowing what success feels like. That’s kind going on. They’re starting to feel that success and they’re starting to understand.”
Jerry Wooton scored their first touchdown on a 10-yard fumble recovery and Savior Allah scored their last TD on a 26-yard run. In between, Jaivon Thomas rushed for 134 yards and touchdowns of 30 and 54 yards, and Terrell Thomas rushed for 134 yards and TDs of 55 and 15 yards.
After jumping out to the big lead, the Red Devils turned the second half over the their JVs and a running clock. At first the starters were a little perturbed at being taken out of the game, but once the reserves started moving the ball they were leading the cheers.
“We expected to be 3-0 at this point. I didn’t expect us to be winning the way we’re winning, so that’s kind of the shocker. It’s not that we’re winning, but how we’re winning. We’re winning convincingly. They’re starting to just go. They know the expectations and they’re living up to it. That’s what it’s coming down to right now.”
