A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered, Raymond Gaunt, 64, of Quinton, NJ and a lifelong resident of Salem County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 29, 2026. Born in Mannington, NJ, Raymond was the son of the late William Gaunt Jr. and Donna (Norton) Gaunt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beautiful wife Loretta “Lynn” Gaunt and his precious son Steven Gaunt.
Raymond attended Salem High School and went on to Boot Camp at Fort Benning in Georgia where he served in the United Sates Army Reserve. He was a hardworking man who spent many years utilizing his skills as a mechanic. Throughout his life, he worked for Sam Taylor and Sons Construction in Pennsville, NJ, Mobil Dredging and Pumping in Chester, PA, and B.R. Williams Inc. in Woodstown, NJ. He was the kind of person who could fix just about anything while talking your ear off and took pride in a job well done. Raymond had a passion for working on his 66 Impala and countless other family built race cars. He cherished every moment he spent with family and friends at car shows, racetracks and the family shop. He also loved his dogs more than anything.
Raymond is survived by his sons Ray D. Gaunt Sr. (Jessica), Brandon Gaunt and Cody Ridgway; stepdaughters Terressa and Adina Gaunt; grandchildren Ray Gaunt Jr. (Alexis), Divine Gaunt, Kaden Gaunt and Mikey Gaunt; his brothers William “Elf” Gaunt (Kim) and Anthony Gaunt; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
