Rawley Louis "Pud" Heibel, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 29th 2026 in Canton Baptist Church, 700 Smick Rd., Canton-Salem, NJ 08079 where family and friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Rawley Louis “Pud” Heibel, Jr., age 73, formerly of Quinton, NJ passed away Wednesday, July 22nd 2026 in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home – Vineland after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Salem, NJ, he was the son of the late Rawley Louis Heibel, Sr. and Jewel Carr Heibel. Pud was a chemical operator for the E.I. DuPont Chambers Works. He was a proud US Marine Corps Veteran. Pud enjoyed being a member of the Salem County Sportsmen’s Club, the Quinton Sportsmen’s Club and a member of the Canton Baptist Church. Many happy memories were shared at the Sportsman’s club lake with his girls and eventually his grandchildren. A trip to the sportsman club always included an ice cream treat. He enjoyed all types of  hunting, coon, deer, turkey and rabbit.  Pud hunted in state and out of state with many mounted trophies.  He has a display container that contains over 100 Turkey beards.  His love of fishing and boating started as a boy with his family and cousins off of the beaches in Texas.

Pud took pride in all he did. He enjoyed being outside.  His yard was evidence of his care with all the bushes and grass clipped and sticks picked up. He was an avid gardener always growing a big crop of Lima beans. He was proud of a large cabin he and his son-in-law built on the back of his Jericho property. He adored his grandchildren and they loved their Popa. He loved spending time with them. Popa would join in playing with them and using his imagination.

Pud enjoyed vacationing  in New Jersey and around the country. Pud and Jessie enjoyed many trips up and down the east coast, out west, Alaska and Hawaii. The goals of the trips were enjoying nature, finding good BBQ, seafood and the best ice cream stand.

Pud is survived by his loving wife, the former Jessie Gandy; his daughters, Jamie Graeber (Jonathan) of Quinton and Kristy Whitley (Andy) of Mantua Twp.; his stepchildren, Martie Buzby (Eric) of Mannington and Charles John Wible (Jodi) of Mannington; brothers, Allen Heibel (Theresa) of LAC and Donald Heibel of LAC; his grandchildren, Colt Sowers, James Sowers, Liam Graeber, Jaxon Whitley, Parker Whitley, Trevor Buzby (Ginger), Anna Buzby, Grady Buzby, Colby Wible, Luke Wible and John Wible; and his great granddaughter, Millie Buzby.  Pud is predeceased by his sister, Martha Podgurski.
