Mary Francis Lang

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 4th in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 PM on Monday evening and from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday morning. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Fran Lang on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born on January 17, 1958, in Passaic, New Jersey, Mary Fran was the eldest daughter of Don and Ellen Lang. She spent her youth growing up in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and adult years in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.

In July 2025, Mary Fran was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. She faced her illness with extraordinary courage, dignity, and grace, never allowing her diagnosis to define her spirit. She passed peacefully with her devoted sister, Eileen Lang-Kramme, by her side.

Mary Fran dedicated 26 years of service to Solenis in Wilmington, Delaware, where she worked as a Logistics Procurement Assistant. She earned the admiration of colleagues through her remarkable work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and steadfast willingness to help others. She approached every responsibility with integrity, humility, and quiet excellence.

For more than five decades, Mary Fran was deeply involved in the rodeo and barrel racing community. Her passion for barrel racing began alongside her father and sister and grew into a lifelong calling. Though she never sought recognition, she became one of the sport’s most trusted horsewomen.

As a student of her trade, Mary Fran possessed a rare gift for matching the right horse with the right cowgirl. Countless competitors sought her advice, trusted her judgment, and found success because of her guidance. She never sought credit—her greatest joy came from watching others achieve their dreams. Among her proudest accomplishments was purchasing her sister Eileen’s legendary seven-time First Frontier Circuit Qualifier, Circuit Champion, and Rookie of the Year horse, Cecil, sight unseen.

Those who knew Mary Fran couldn’t help but smile whenever she described a promising barrel horse as “one nice hombre.” If those words left her lips, you could be certain you were looking at an exceptional horse. It became one of her signature expressions and perfectly reflected the quiet confidence of someone whose instincts were rarely wrong.

Mary Fran will be remembered for her kindness, humility, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She touched countless lives through simple acts of encouragement, honest advice, and genuine compassion.

Mary Fran leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, integrity, and grace that will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Although she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever ride alongside the family, friends, and rodeo community she loved so dearly.

Mary Fran is survived by her beloved sister, Eileen Lang-Kramme, and her brother-in-law, George Kramme.
