Karl Andre Biermann, a man who found his greatest joys under open skies and along quiet waters, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 at the age of 80. Of Carneys Point and Alloway, NJ, he was the only child of the late Hugo C. and Carrie L. (Carlson) Biermann.

Karl attended Salem County Technical Institute and obtained a degree in drafting. He worked many years as a draftsman and project manager at the Westinghouse steam turbine division in Lester, PA and Concordville, PA, then finished his career with the Salem County Planning Board. He drew every map and road in the county – and rambled down nearly every one as well! He was particularly proud of his work maintaining the maps for the Countyโ€™s farmland preservation program. He enjoyed visiting his mother’s family farm in Spalding, Nebraska and traveling to the Sandhills and Badlands of South Dakota.

In his earlier years, he was the kind of person who felt most at home outdoors, whether casting a fishing line in any nearby creek or lake, to simply sitting still enough to watch the world move around him. He had such an appreciation for nature and loved parking in the back of a field to take in the sights of the bald eagles soaring overhead. Some of his best evenings were spent at Cowtown Rodeo, with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Gretchen Biermann of Carneys Point, NJ, and her children J, Robbin, and Victoria Allen; Erik (Beth) Biermann of Mullica Hill, NJ and their children Isabel, Amelia and Lydia; Carrie Biermann of Pedricktown, NJ; and Karl Christian (Jillian) Biermann of Bruceton Mills, WV and their children Leighton and Liam; as well as many loving cousins. Karl was preceded in death by his infant daughter Jennie.
