Joseph Patrick Branosky, lovingly known as Jerry or Joe, age 80, of Carneys Point, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family and care team.
Born in Paulsboro, New Jersey, Joe was raised with strong values that guided him throughout his life. He attended St. James High School and graduated from Paulsboro High School in June of 1963. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. Joe was stationed in Germany and bravely served in Vietnam from January 1966 to January 1967. His dedication to service continued for 27 years with the U.S. Army National Guard.
Upon returning home, Joe built a life rooted in hard work, learning, and a commitment to serving others. He was employed as a welder at the Texaco Refinery in Westville, New Jersey, for 18 years before turning his passion for the trades into a calling as an educator. Joe taught at the Burlington County Institute of Technology for 21 years, positively impacting countless students. He retired in June of 2007.
A lifelong learner, Joe earned an Associate Degree from Gloucester County College in December 1976, a Bachelor of Science from Glassboro State University in May 1990, and a Master of Education from Wilmington College in May 1995. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as he later served as President of the Alumni Association of Wilmington College.
Joe was a devoted member of Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Carneys Point, where his faith remained an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Claire (Gerard) Branosky, and his beloved brother, Stephen Branosky.
Joe leaves behind his cherished wife of 55 years, Sandra (Bonta) Branosky; his brothers Michael, Andrew, and John; his daughter Natalie; his sons Joel (Bernadette Ulissi), Nathan (Rose Billone), and Evan (Sarah Roache); and his treasured grandchildren Brendan, Gianna, Bernard, and Iris. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his love of teaching, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.
