Janice M. Battiato

August 30, 1943 - June 9, 2026

A private funeral service will be held at Lawnside Cemetery, with Reverend James Pollard of Zion Baptist Church officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Laughrey Funeral Home.

Janice M. Battiato, 82, of Mannington, NJ, beloved Mom, Mommom, and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 9th at home with her girls by her side.

Janice was born in Wilmington, DE, to LeRoy and Elma Nixon on August 30th, 1943. As a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, she created a home filled with warmth, comfort, and unwavering love. She devoted herself to raising her three children, providing them with guidance, encouragement, and countless cherished memories that will remain with them forever.

She graduated from Penns Grove High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Frank.

Janice was also an essential part of her husband’s farming operation before his passing. While she may not have sought recognition, her support, hard work and steady presence helped sustain the farm and family through the years. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved, sharing stories, laughter, and simple moments together.

She is survived by her girls, Debbi Battiato and Christi Battiato (Mark); son, James Battiato (Wendy); five grandchildren, Lauren Green (Todd), Josh Smick (Kate), Austin Rudd, Riley Rudd, and Madison Battiato; four great-grandchildren, Thaddeus, McKinlee, Santiago and Ezra; and many other family members and friends who have been faithful to her over her many years and will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Battiato; her mother and father, LeRoy and Elma Nixon; her sister, Lois Gray and her brother, Ronald Nixon.
