A Gathering and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, NJ, followed by a brief service at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to come together to share memories and celebrate Joan’s life.

Florence Joan Fields (Friant), age 82, of Pennsville, NJ, was born in Woodbury, NJ, on August 1, 1944, to the late Jim and Florence (Lee) Munyan. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and cherished memories. Joan was a devoted mother to her three sons, Sonny (Jackie), Michael, and William (Michelle), and a loving grandmother to Shannon, Abigail, Brianna, Meaghan, Autumn, Madison, and Alexis. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Ema, Aubrey, Maverick, Dan, Ivy, Colt, and Penelope, with another precious great-grandchild expected in October. Joan spent many dedicated years as a manager at the Burger King in Pennsville, where her hard work, strength, and caring personality touched the lives of many. She is survived by her six siblings, Jim Munyan (Darlene), Donny Munyan, Lizzie Salyards, Shirley Munyan, Glenn Munyan (Sandy), and Betty Cobb (Dave), along with her loving family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Joan’s greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her love, strength, kindness, and the many memories she created with those closest to her. Her love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for generations to come. Rest peacefully, Joan. You were surrounded by love as you left this world, and you will be surrounded by love in our hearts forever. You will be forever loved, forever remembered, and deeply missed.
