Douglas K. Zane

October 24, 1956 - July 16, 2026

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11 AM at the Alloway United Methodist Church Cemetery, 10 Church Street, Alloway, NJ 08001. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Doug’s memory to the Alloway United Methodist Church, PO Box 396, Alloway, NJ 08001.

Douglas “Doug” K. Zane, 69, a resident of Alloway and, for the last 40 years, Mannington, passed away on July 16, 2026. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Milford H. Zane and Geraldine E. (Kiger) Zane and attended Woodstown High School. Doug spent his career working as owner and operator of Zane’s Used Auto Parts and Towing in Alloway. The junkyard, trucks, cars and heavy equipment were his life and he loved to go out on tow jobs during all hours, especially working for the local and state police. He loved going to the auctions where he was infamous for “wheeling and dealing” and, in his spare time, enjoyed watching Western movies on the television.

Before he married and started his own business, Doug helped his father buy, sell and trade horses. He was an excellent horse rider, riding horses in the auction ring for his father and making money by riding horses in the ring for other sellers. He also broke horses for private owners.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, together for 54 years, married almost 50 years, Robin Ophelia (Heil) Zane; his two daughters Brandy Lee Zane Cruz (Evodio) and Ginger Kay Caldwell (Arnold); his grandchildren Justin and Julien Zane, Sabrina, Silvanna, Evodio “Junior” and Alissa Cruz, and Cody, Zachary and Isaiah Caldwell; his great grandchild Paisley Zane; his siblings Hillard Zane, Linda Cossaboon (Brian), Jeffrey Zane (Tammy) and Judith Hitchner; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter Jacqueline Zane and his siblings Milford Zane Jr., Lucy Zane, Virginia Griscom, Larry Zane and Tina Zane.
