Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, July 23rd in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, where friends are invited to visit from 10 AM to 1 PM. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alloway Township Veterans Association.

Devin Michael VanMeter, age 36, of Penton, died Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Cooper Hospital in Camden, surrounded by his family after a valiant fight with stage 4 melanoma.

Born in Mannington, son of Lisa Sickler and the late Douglas G. VanMeter, he was raised in Stow Creek and Alloway.

Devin had worked at M. Davis Inc. for many years as a pipefitter in industrial construction before going to UA Local 322 in Winslow Township. He was vice president of the Alloway Township Veterans Association. He loved being involved with the Alloway Vets, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing and hanging with his friends. Devin had a rare gift of making people laugh even on the hardest days. His quick wit, contagious sense of humor and genuine kindness brought light into every room he entered.

Devin is survived by his mother, Lisa Sickler; his sisters, Ashley VanMeter and Mikele Vanmeter; his sister & brother-in-law, Kelsey & Kevin Still; his nieces, Piper VanMeter & Evelyn Still; his nephew, Mason Still; his aunts & uncles, Tracy & David Strang, Kurt & Donna Sickler, Scott & Debbie Sickler, Sheri & Les Finlaw, Dee & Eddie Rieck, Dodi & Jimmy Baldwin, Dave & Debbie VanMeter, Gary & Donna VanMeter, and Donnie & Carmen VanMeter; his many cousins and many friends.

Devin was predeceased by his father, Douglas G. VanMeter; his maternal grandparents, Walter & Joanne Sickler; his paternal grandparents, George & Kay VanMeter; his uncle, Steve Miller; his aunt & uncle, Lori & Kevin Goldsborough; and his cousin, Levi Baldwin.
